I’ve just become aware that there is a new permit for a boat visiting Washington State waters – Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Permit for Out-of-State Boaters. It seems in 2017 this new permit was approved – effective 2018. The permit is to assist the help the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s efforts in preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species.
There are exceptions including boats from Idaho & Oregon and small craft not needing to be licensed. Washington State boats don’t need the permit as they pay an AIS the fee is included in the yearly registration fee.
I’ll now see about getting one in Port Townsend as the WA State www-site states they can be purchased “from any of WDFW’s authorized license sales providers.”
The cost is $24.
