Saratoga Passage

After securing SWEET PEA for sea I depart the Port of Edmonds berth at 9:30am. Before leaving the marina there is a quick stop at the gas dock for fuel. Leaving the port entrance I turn to starboard heading up Possession Sound. A very light-to-no-wind that is blowing on the nose, along with a slight adverse current; so the motor runs until 1pm when I’m near Langly and the winds picks up from the NW 5-10 knots. Two hours later I clear East Point and an hour later pass by Baby Island heading south into Holmes Harbor. … More Saratoga Passage

One month

After a nice couple of days at Liberty Bay and Poulsbo it was time to head to Edmonds to meet up with my family and celebrate my sister’s birthday. This trip involved transiting Agate Passage and then crossing the main channel of Puget Sound. There is a strong afternoon and evening wind forecast for Admiralty … More One month

Some catching up

The plan was to stay at … More Heading North

Groceries

Mid-morning on an overcast and almost chilly morning I and the Potters depart Jarrell Cove for Olympia. There is wind, on the nose, that is ‘sail worthy’; but I need to get groceries and then find a location to spend the night (I’m not wanting to pay for moorage in Olympia). Motoring south along Pickering … More Groceries

The current wins

I’m going back into South Puget Sound so once again I’ll transit Tacoma Narrows.  This means an early wake-up to ride the tide south. Up at 3:45am … Momma Kitty doesn’t even move out from the covers.   I make a cup of coffee and eat a breakfast of breakfast bars while boiling water to put … More The current wins
