I taking the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston and arrived in Port Townsend about noon. Had the SWEET PEA rigged by 2pm, I’m really out of practice, and she was in the water shortly thereafter. Everything seems to be working just fine and the centerboard even went down! The cruise of the Salish Sea begins!
After almost seven years Sweet Pea has once again returned to Puget Sound. She will be back on saltwater in a few more days! The drive from Denver was uneventful. I’ve begun the ‘enjoyable’ task of applying new antifouling paint to Sweet Pea’s bottom. I went over the old paint with a scraper to remove any loose bits (the port side was worse thanthan starboard – port faced the sun where she was stored); then sanded with 80-grit to assure the new paint has a good bond. … More bottom paint and other tasks
The electrical system components finally arrived and I have completed the second upgrade to Sweet Pea’s electrical system. The first upgrade was done in 2010. She now how a solar panel, USB chargers, a second 12V port, stern light, new masthead light and a safer electrical panel.
